Zaraa apne aas-paas dekho. Hawa jise aap saans lete ho, samundar ka namkeen paani, subah ki chai, mitti, doodh, steel ka chammach - ye sab dikhne mein ek-ek cheez lagti hain, lekin asal mein inme se zyada-tar "mixtures" hain, yaani ek se zyada cheezon ka mel. Bahut kam cheezein "shudh" (pure) hoti hain.
Chemistry mein "pure" ka matlab wo nahi jo hum rozmarra mein bolte hain (jaise "shudh doodh"). Science mein pure substance wo hai jisme sirf ek hi tarah ka padarth ho, poore namoone (sample) mein har jagah bilkul same. Iss lesson mein hum samjhenge ki matter kitne tarah ka hota hai, aur mixtures kya hote hain - yahi poore chapter ki neev (foundation) hai.
Socho aapke paas Lego blocks hain. Ek element (tatva) ek hi rang ke identical blocks jaisa hai. Ek compound (yaugik) tab banta hai jab do alag rang ke blocks ek fixed pattern mein jud jaate hain aur ek naya piece ban jaata hai jise todna mushkil hai. Aur ek mixture tab hai jab aap bas alag-alag pieces ek dabbe mein daal dete ho - wo jude nahi, aur aap unhe kabhi bhi haath se alag kar sakte ho.

Saara matter (har cheez jise mass aur jagah - volume - chahiye) do bade groups mein baanta jaata hai: Pure Substances aur Mixtures. Aur inke bhi aage hisse hote hain. Poora map neeche hai:
๐ Pure Substances - Do Type
Pure substance wo hai jiski composition (banaawat) har jagah same ho aur jiske properties fixed hon (jaise fixed melting point, boiling point). Pure substances do tarah ke hote hain: Elements aur Compounds.
1. Elements
Element wo pure substance hai jo sirf ek hi tarah ke atoms se bana hota hai, aur jise aur simple cheez mein toda nahi ja sakta (chemical methods se bhi nahi). Ab tak 118 elements khoje ja chuke hain (jaise oxygen, hydrogen, gold, iron, carbon). Ye teen tarah ke hote hain:
- Metals - chamakdaar, bijli/garmi conduct karte, peet-kar taar/chaddar bante. Example: sona (gold), loha (iron), taamba (copper).
- Non-metals - aksar dull, bijli conduct nahi karte. Example: oxygen, sulphur, carbon.
- Metalloids - beech ke, dono ke kuch gun. Example: silicon, boron.
2. Compounds
Compound tab banta hai jab do ya zyada elements ek fixed ratio (anupaat) mein chemically combine ho jaate hain. Iski sabse khaas baat: compound ke properties uske banane wale elements se bilkul alag ho jaate hain.
โ Classic Example - Paani (Water, HโO):
Paani banta hai Hydrogen (jo aag pakadti hai) + Oxygen (jo jalne mein madad karti hai) se. Lekin paani khud aag bujhaata hai! Do "aag wale" elements milkar ek "aag bujhaane wala" compound bana dete hain - kyunki wo chemically jud gaye. Aur paani mein hamesha H aur O ka ratio 2:1 hota hai - fix.
Aur examples: Common salt (NaCl = Sodium + Chlorine), Carbon dioxide (COโ), Cheeni/sugar (C, H, O se bani).
๐ฅ Mixtures - Jab Cheezein Bas "Mil" Jaati Hain
Mixture wo padarth hai jo do ya zyada substances (elements ya compounds) ko physically milaane se banta hai - koi chemical reaction (abhikriya) nahi hoti. Iski teen badi baatein yaad rakho:
- Koi fixed ratio nahi - aap chai mein kam ya zyada cheeni daal sakte ho, phir bhi wo chai (mixture) hi rahegi.
- Components apne properties nahi khote - namak-paani mein namak abhi bhi namkeen hai aur paani abhi bhi paani.
- Physical methods se alag ho sakte hain - filter, evaporate, magnet etc. se (bina chemical reaction ke).
Loha (iron filings) aur sulphur (gandhak) ko sirf mila do - ye ek mixture hai; magnet se loha wapas kheench sakte ho. Lekin agar inhe garam karo, toh ye chemically jud kar Iron Sulphide (FeS) - ek naya compound - ban jaate hain, jise magnet ab alag nahi kar sakta! Yahi mixture aur compound ka asli farak dikhata hai.

Ye is chapter ka sabse important classification hai:
1. Homogeneous Mixtures
Aise mixtures jinki composition har jagah bilkul same ho, aur alag-alag components nangi aankh se dikhein nahi - sab ek jaisa (uniform) lage. Inhe solutions bhi kehte hain.
Examples: Namak ya cheeni ka paani mein ghula solution, hawa (kai gases ka homogeneous mixture), alloys jaise brass (taamba + jasta) aur steel (loha + carbon), aur nimbu paani (achhe se mix kiya hua).
2. Heterogeneous Mixtures
Aise mixtures jinki composition har jagah alag ho, aur jinke components ko aap alag-alag dekh sakte ho (kabhi nangi aankh se, kabhi microscope se).
Examples: Ret aur paani, tel aur paani (oil + water), ret aur loha (sand + iron filings), mitti (soil), daal mein pade kankad, salad.

๐ Real Life Mein Mixtures
Jis hawa mein hum saans lete hain wo ek homogeneous mixture hai: takreeban 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen, aur baaki 1% mein Carbon dioxide, Argon aur paani ki vaashp. Ye chemically jude nahin - isliye hum inhe alag kar sakte hain (jaise industries oxygen alag karti hain).
Shudh sona (24 carat) bahut naram hota hai, isliye jewellery mein use nahi hota. Ismein taamba/chaandi milaakar alloy (mixture) banaya jaata hai - 22 carat, 18 carat gold. Jitne kam carat, utna zyada doosri metal (dhaatu) mili hui. Toh aapki gold ki chain asal mein ek mixture hai!
