Model Kyun Banaye Gaye? 🤔
Atom itna chhota hai ki koi use dekh nahi sakta. Toh scientists ne experiments karke, unke results ke aadhaar par, atom ke andar kaisa dikhta hoga - iski ek tasveer (model) banayi. Jaise ek andhera kamra ho aur aap sirf cheezon se takra kar andaaza lagao ki kamre mein kya hai - waise hi scientists ne atom ka "naksha" banaya. Ye model waqt ke saath behtar hote gaye. Chaliye teen main models dekhein.
🍉 1. Thomson's Model (1898) - "Watermelon Model"
Electron khojne ke baad, J.J. Thomson ne kaha ki atom ek positive charge wale gol gende (sphere) jaisa hai, jisme electrons chhote beej (seeds) ki tarah dhanse (embedded) hote hain. Ise "plum pudding" ya "watermelon model" kehte hain.
Socho ek tarbooz - iska laal gudda "positive charge" hai jo poore atom mein phaila hai, aur kaale beej "electrons" hain jo us gudde mein jagah-jagah dhanse hain. Positive aur negative charge barabar hone se atom neutral rehta hai. Simple, lekin galat nikla!
Kami (limitation): Ye model Rutherford ke experiment ke results explain nahi kar paaya (aage dekho).
🎯 2. Rutherford's Gold-Foil Experiment (1911)
Ernest Rutherford ne ek famous experiment kiya: bahut patli sone ki chaddar (gold foil) par tez raftaar alpha particles (positive charge wale, bhaari kann) firaaye, aur dekha ki wo kahan jaate hain.
3 Observations aur unke matlab:
- Zyada-tar particles seedhe nikal gaye → atom ke andar zyada-tar jagah khaali (empty space) hai.
- Kuch particles thode mud gaye (deflect) → andar kahin positive charge hai jo positive alpha particles ko dhakelta hai.
- Bahut kam (1 in ~12000) seedhe wapas bounce ho gaye → beech mein ek bahut chhota, bhaari, positive center hai. Isi ko Rutherford ne Nucleus naam diya.
📌 Rutherford's conclusions: (1) Atom ke center mein ek chhota, dense, positive nucleus hai jahan poora mass hai. (2) Electrons nucleus ke charon taraf ghoomte hain. (3) Atom ka zyada-tar hissa khaali hai.
Kami (limitation): Physics ke niyam kehte hain ki ghoomta hua (accelerating) electron energy khota hai - toh use spiral karke nucleus mein gir jaana chahiye aur atom nasht ho jaana chahiye! Lekin aisa hota nahi. Rutherford ka model ye explain nahi kar paaya.

Niels Bohr ne Rutherford ki kami door ki. Usne kaha ki electrons kisi bhi raaste par nahi ghoomte - wo sirf kuch fixed "energy levels" (shells/orbits) mein hi ghoomte hain. In shells mein ghoomte hue electron energy nahi khota - isliye wo nucleus mein girta nahi. Isi liye atom stable rehta hai.
In shells ko andar se bahar ki taraf K, L, M, N... naam diya gaya hai (ya numbers n = 1, 2, 3, 4...). Har shell ki ek fixed energy hoti hai - andar wali shell ki energy kam, bahar wali ki zyada. Ye Bohr ka model hi hum Class 9 mein use karte hain, aur iske aadhaar par electrons ka distribution agle lesson mein padhenge.
Jab electron energy paakar bahar wali shell mein jaata hai aur phir wapas andar aata hai, toh wo energy light (roshni) ke roop mein chhodta hai. Yahi wajah hai ki alag-alag chemicals aag mein alag rang dete hain - patakhon (fireworks) ke rangeen rang aur gas stove ki neeli lau isi "electron jump" ki wajah se hain!
